IPHS participates in Global Day Celebration at AURAK

Six students of IPHS sang UAE National Anthem for the Global Day Celebration at AURAK, RAK on 1st March 2018.

 

Speed Reading Competition @ IPHS

Speed Reading Competition was conducted for classes III to VIII on 28th and 29th January 2018 by the ‘Only Success’ team. For classes III to V it was class wise and for classes VI to VIII it was a mass session. It was conducted in 2 slots, one for boys and the other for girls. Both the sessions went very well.
The response from the students was amazing. The techniques helped them to read faster. By doing speed reading we can improve eye span and reduce the eye pause. Students also learned some of the habits which are reducing their speed in reading. School Speed Reading Contest will be held on 4th May 2018, Expo Center, Sharjah.

Bidding Adieu !!

The farewell party organized and conducted by the students of class XI, on 21st February 2018 created emotional moments for the students of class XII. The ceremony started with a welcome note by the students of class XI. The Principal and teachers addressed the students and wished them success and great years ahead. The seniors, in their colourful attire, looked resplendent and mature to take on the world. There were games and other fun filled activities for the students of class XII. At the end all enjoyed the culinary delight .

Farewell Ceremony

On 18th February 2018 a Farewell Ceremony was held for the students of class X. The students of class IX organised this unforgettable event for their seniors.During the ceremony,the Principal and teachers addressed the students and wished them good luck for their future. Students of class X shared their experiences with the teachers and the school in bringing about a change in their lives. After a series of emotional speeches there were cultural programmes and games.The event culminated with a sumptuous multi cuisine dinner.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP @ IPHS

IPHS, RAK in association with ‘Samanwaya’ Cultural organization conducted a Blood Donation Camp on 9th February 2018.
The School Principal Mrs. Anubha Nijhawan inaugurated the camp. The office bearers of ‘Samanwaya’ Mr. Gowrisankar and Mr. Bipin explained the significance of blood donation. Dr. Khalood, SAQR Hospital, Ras Al Khaimah graced the function with her esteemed presence and guidance. The team of scout students volunteered the programme. Thirty seven people donated blood and it was a grand success. Thanks to the overwhelming participation of parents and teachers.

Health & Lifestyle Screening @ IPHS

IPHS together with RAK Hospital, provided an excellent platform to review the physical condition and Lifestyle which covered Blood Pressure, Random Blood Sugar, Height, Weight, BMI, Lifestyle evaluation and Counselling. It was held on 2nd February 2018 in our school premises. This most awaited opportunity was used effectively by many who had been eagerly awaiting for it. Both the screening and counselling has helped to spread awareness and the participants decided to be cautious of their health and life style.

UAE’s Victory Salute Competition

IPHS organized different competitions for the students of classes VI to VIII on 1st February 2018. The UAE’s Victory sign represents Unity and the Future of the UAE, where the three fingers of Victory signs have Expo 2020, Vision 2021 & Emirates Mars Mission 2050. The competition conducted for class VI was Collage Making, class VII Drawing & Colouring Competition and for class VIII Model Making Competition. Students were enthusiastic in doing and put very hard effort in completing to the best level. Judges were allotted to the evaluation based on the given criteria.

Special Assembly on 69th Republic Day Celebration

IPHS conducted special assembly on 25th January on the occasion of 69th Republic Day of India. Class X A conducted the assembly. Master Adonai Joe Saimon gave an enlightening speech. Principal Mrs. Anubha Nijhawan addressed IPHS and reminded us about our glorious national heritage. An emotional patriotic song was presented by class VIII D girls to play tribute to the valiant soldiers who have sacrificed their lives for the protection of the country and the welfare of the people. The winners of Hindi Utsav competition were awarded on this day. Scouts and Guides were given certificates of appreciation and the winners of Indian National Anthem competition were also awarded.

Indian National Anthem Competition @ IPHS

IPHS conducted Indian National Anthem Competition on 21st January 2018. Keeping in view of 69th Republic Day, the students of classes I-VIII participated in the competition. They were judged on the basis of Presentation, Timing, Pronunciation and the Rhythm. 32 groups of 8 members representing their classes displayed their talent as well as their respect for the National Anthem. This helped them to instill a sense of patriotism among them. It also made them aware of their rich National Heritage on which they can be proud of. All the teams proved to coordinate each other and showed high level of confidence.

SCOUTS CAMP

A camp was organized for the scouts of the school on 13th January 2018 from 4 pm – 8.30 pm. 28 scouts participated enthusiastically in the activities organized for them. The activities kindled the spirit of the boys to participate whole heartedly. Various games such as treasure hunt, basketball, badminton, and few other games were organized to foster team spirit and coordination. Students took part in the activities with much enthusiasm and effort. It provided a novel experience to the students as there was a culinary twist to it - as they indulged in preparing a delicious and sumptuous meal prepared by themselves! The camp triggered a overwhelming response from the budding scouts and who called it as an awesome experience.

3 R DRIVE @ IPHS

As a part of Education Sector Occupational Environment, Health & Safety Management System (ED OEHSMS) EHS Directorate, IPHS observed with 3R Drive - a step towards Schools Recycling Pledge.
Different Bins of different colours were placed in the school ground. Blue Bins for Papers, Green Bins for Plastics and Red for Food Cans. Later it was collected by the RAK Municipality. Carton Boxes were kept for one sided papers and left over notebooks. The pages were removed, bounded and the books were distributed to students to be used as rough books. Everyone participated with full enthusiasm. It was a joint venture to create awareness and as an initial step towards effective recycling.

Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4)

The Cognitive Abilities Test an assessment of reasoning ability which identify where a pupil’s real strengths lie, free from the constraint of the curriculum and unencumbered by learning barriers. CAT4 provides a robust, standardized measure of cognitive reasoning ability, without reference to curriculum-based material and regardless of previous achievements or first language.
With CAT4 an invaluable insight of pupils’ ability to reason across four distinct areas -verbal, non-verbal, mathematical and spatial can be drawn. This allows the teachers to address patterns and adapt teaching methods to suit individual needs (or group, where a similar learning profile is shared), ensuring feedback is appropriate and targets are achievable.
45 minutes per part, 2 hrs 15 minutes in total CAT 4 for class 3rd, 4th, 6th & 8th was conducted from 9th January 2018 to 24th January 2018. Approach to assessment covers ability, attitude and attainment to provide a holistic view of each pupil. This approach provides teachers and senior leaders with the data and insights to:
• Inform teaching and learning
• Track progress effectively
• Provide evidence of progress
• Identify barriers to learning and motivate students
• Diagnose and monitor additional educational needs
• Facilitate whole school improvement
With the participation of students it was a great success.

Asset Exam 2017-18

As a part of UAE National Agenda targets, ASSET (Assessment of Scholastic Skills through Educational Testing) is an external benchmarking test. Ministry of Education (MoE) views this extremely important assessment for the students of classes III – X. ASSET for the Academic Year 2017-2018 was conducted on 5th, 6th, 7th and 10th December 2017 for the subjects English, Mathematics, Science and Hindi/ Social Science respectively. With the participation of students it was a great success.

Inter House Badminton Tournament 2017-18

IPHS, RAK, Department of PHYSICAL EDUCATION, conducted a 'CLASSWISE INTER HOUSE BADMINTON TOURNAMENT' in the month of December 2017. The tournament was inaugurated by the Principal Mrs. Anubha Nijhawan. The tournament was a great success and received well by the students. The tournament was categorised separately for boys and girls. The qualifying rounds were held from 4th to 11th of December 2017. The Semifinals & Final rounds were conducted from December 18th to 21st. The Class wise inter house badminton tournament was a great experience to all the sports loving students and teachers.

ANNUAL DAY & GRADUATION CEREMONY, 2017

IPHS, RAK enthusiastically celebrated its 32nd Annual Award and Graduation Ceremony on Friday, 8th December 2017. Mr. Prem Chand, Consul, Passport and Community Affairs, Consulate General of India was the chief guest of the day. The chief guest gave the Presidential address which was followed by the keynote address by Guest speaker, Dr. Jeena F Shaijan, Specialist Psychiatrist, Sunny Speciality Clinic, Sharjah. The head boy of the school, gave a welcome note to one and all. School report was presented by the school Principal Mrs. Anubha Nijhawan. Graduation ceremony was the main highlight of the day. The head girl of the school later gave the vote of thanks. After the prize distribution, overall championship Trophy for the Academic Performance (2016-17) was presented. Varun House emerged as the overall winner. Events like welcome dance, folk dances on different states etc added more colours to the programme.

‘Food Fiesta 2017’ @ IPHS

As a part of UAE National Day Celebration ‘Food Fiesta 2017’ was organized by IPHS. It was inaugurated by KG Section Supervisor, Mrs. Vasanti Sarabu on 29th November 2017 in the school premises. A variety of delicious and sumptuous food items were served. The students relished the eatables and enjoyed the day. The main attraction of the event was the Happiness Counter where different kinds of accessories related to UAE National Day was available. It was a fun- filled occasion.

Mini Marathon @ IPHS

IPHS organized a Mini Marathon 2017 for the Senior Section Students as a part of 46th UAE National Day Celebrations on 27th November 2017.It was conducted in the school vicinity. All the students actively participated in the event.

UAE National Anthem Competition

UAE National Anthem Competition 2017 was held on 27th November 2017 for classes I to IX and XI. The competition was conducted on account of 46th UAE National Day Celebration.The teams consisted of 8 members from each category. The students participated enthusiastically and the Judges were Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim, Mr. Hossam Mahmoud and Mrs. Eman Ibrahim of Arabic Department. The winners of UAE National Anthem Competition were awarded with prizes and certificates which were sponsored by Al Munna Book Shop and IPHS. It was indeed another great celebration day for IPHS.

IPHS participates in 46th National Day Celebration

Indian Public High School has participated for the 46th U.A.E National Day Celebration at M.O.E, RAK on 27th November 2017 and at Post Office, RAK on 28th November 2017. The students of class IV participated by performing INDO-ARAB FUSION dance. The theme of the dance was to show gratitude and unity among both the countries. They were appreciating our students and teachers for their performance. They concluded by expecting the same for upcoming years too.

UAE National Day Celebration @ IPHS

The 46th UAE National Day was celebrated with great zeal and ardour on 28th November 2017. A special assembly was conducted to mark the occasion. The assembly started with a recital from Holy Quran followed by the hoisting of UAE flag . The choir group as well as the students sang the National Anthem. Shalima Aji Kumar of class XIIA delivered a speech on the importance of the day. The Vice-Principal Dr. Annamma Mathew wished everyone on the occasion of the National Day. She also elaborated about the significance of the great day. The students expressed their love for the nation through a cultural show. It was based on the rich art, culture and traditions of UAE. The students dressed in traditional attires presented dances, songs and poems. The winners of the National Anthem Competition were given prizes in this occasion. The celebrations filled everyone with pride.

Career Fair 2017 @ IPHS

IPHS, RAK organized a 'Career Fair' for the senior students on 26th November 2017. The event was inaugurated by the school chairman Mr. Reji Skariah accompanied by Principal Mrs. Anubha Nijhawan, Vice Principal Dr. Annamma Mathew, Supervisors, Coordinator, Head boy and Head girl in the school premises. Nearly 20 esteemed universities of UAE had set up their stalls inviting students to explore the courses offered by them. All schools from Ras Al Khaimah were invited to attend the fair. There was a preponderance of IPHS students. Scholars Indian School, Ideal English School, New Indian School, Alpha International School also actively participated thereby making the event a great success. It was a great learning experience for the children as they got information about the different courses offered by different universities under one roof.

32nd Annual Sports Meet 2017

IPHS celebrated its 32nd Annual Sports Day on 23rd November 2017. This event took place in Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Stadium, RAK. The chief guest for the event was Dr. Prasanth T, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical, Birla Institute of Technology Offshore Campus, RAK.
The event started with the RAK Police Band followed by march past. The leaders of all four houses namely Pawan, Prithvi, Varun and Agni led their groups. Guard of honour was given to the chief guest. The principal Mrs. Anubha Nijhawan gave a welcome speech .The Chairman Mr. Reji Skaria also graced the occasion. The chief guest declared the Sports meet open. The Sports Secretary administered the oath.Aerobics and Karate showed the vigour and exuberance of the students. It was a feast for the eyes to see the children performing aerobics and mass drill. There were track events, relay races for boys and girls. The competitive spirit of the athletes was emulating. Games were organized for parents as well as teachers. Winners were awarded trophies and certificates. Champions Trophy was bagged by Varun House. The Annual Sports day culminated with a happy note with a hope to meet again.

Asianet Think & Learn Challenge Contest 2017

Asianet Think & Learn Challenge Screening test was conducted for the students of classes IV to IX on 13th September 2017. Students who were qualified for the 2nd round got an opportunity to challenge the brightest minds in UAE on November 10th 2017 at Hamdan Sports Complex, Dubai. The National round of TLC 2 promised an unique opportunity for students from Grade 4 to 9 by testing Scientific and Mathematical Aptitude.

Health Checkup by SAHI Wellness Program @ IPHS

“SAHI School Health Program” developed by Arabian Healthcare Group, visited IPHS on 17th and 18th of October 2017 for the health checkup for the students of IPHS. The students were screened in Medical and Health areas which included– Dental, Eye, BMI, Fitness, Diet, Stress, etc. The initiative taken by The Arabian Health care Group was really admirable.

A TALK ON FIRST AID @ IPHS

14th November 2017 was celebrated as the birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and also celebrated as the Children’s Day. On the same day the members of the Student council, Scouts and Guides attended a First-Aid session conducted by Ms. Lincy Baby and Ms. Swapna Joy of RAK Hospital. They were also accompanied by Dr. P.V Praveen Kumar. Students clarified their doubts instantly and the session was very interactive. The talk was very informative and helped us to be aware of performing First-Aid at emergency situations.

Kerala Day Celebration @IPHS

61ST Kerala day was celebrated on 1 November, 2017 in IPHS campus. A special assembly was conducted on the day. The main emphasis was to make children aware of the significance of the day. Vice Principal, Dr. Annamma Mathew delivered the speech on the importance of the day. The speech was enlightening. A traditional Kerala dance was presented by the girls. A group song depicting the culture of Kerala was sung. It was an amazing experience.

UAE FLAG DAY Celebration @ IPHS

IPHS celebrated UAE National Flag Day on 2nd November, 2017 with great fervour. A series of events were held and the whole school was abuzz with activities. The school building and the corridors were immersed in the colours of flag to celebrate the occasion. Primary Section students followed by tiny tots of our KG section did a procession with their flags and chorus ‘Raise it High, Raise it Proud’. The National Flag, the symbol of Union, dignity and pride was hoisted in the school by the Principal Mrs. Anubha Nijhawan and Vice Principal, Dr. Annamma Mathew. The students as well as the teachers saluted the flag to express loyalty to the prudent leadership and glorification of the country's national symbol. It was followed by the UAE National Anthem. Ms. Rydham Himanshu Shah of class XIIB and Ms. Nada Ahmed of class XIIA delivered a speech highlighting the importance of the day and the flag which represents the aspirations of the country. Flag Walkathon was organised in which the Student Council, Scouts, Guides and the students of classes VI to XII participated. The slogan 'Raise it high, Raise it proud' filled the air with ecstasy. Colourful UAE flags fluttering and waving exhilarated everyone. The students of middle section visited MOE, RAK where they got an opportunity to witness and be the part of the flag hoisting ceremony. The day filled everyone with pride and a sense of belonging to the country.

DENTAL CHECKUP & VISION CHECKUP @ IPHS

Dental Checkup for the students of classes KG1 and KG2 was conducted on 22nd & 24th October 2017 by RAK Dental College in association with Management and School Clinic. Vision Checkup was also conducted by Samir Opticals, Ras Al Khaimah from 22nd October to 31st October, 2017 for classes KG-XII.

Cultural Competition @ IPHS

IPHS organised Cultural Competitions for the students of I to XII on 26th October, 2017. This event was a kaleidoscope of music and dance. In Fancy Dress Competition the students thrilled the audience and judges with their attires and performance. The participants dressed up in unusual costumes and presented themselves on the stage. Impressive dance forms Bharatnatyam, Mohiniattam and Folk Dances added colour to the cultural evening. The performances were alluring and fascinating. The selection of songs and costumes was marvellous. The performers gave mesmerising performances. It became a festival for all the participants.

Ethnic Day Celebration

Ethnic day, a unique amalgamation of UAE and Indian culture was celebrated on 12th October, 2017. Various cultural activities like Eid Card Making, Mehandi Designs, Floral Pookalam and Tug of war (for boys) were conducted. Mrs. Renjini Santhosh, Program Presenter/Singer at ‘Radio Asia 1269 AM’ was invited as a judge and her performance added more enjoyment for the day. All the students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. Dressed in colourful traditional attires, all of them were looking gorgeous. Eid Card Making, Mehandi Designs and Floral Pookalam were made meticulously by the participants. Judges had a tough time to choose the winners as all the students had put in their best efforts. The winners were given prizes. Overall the celebration culminated with a happy note. It imparted a lot of learning, happiness and joy to all.

Gandhi Jayanti Special Assembly

A special assembly was conducted on 11th October, 2017 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. An array of programmes was conducted to pay tribute to the father of nation. The assembly commenced with the hoisting of UAE flag followed by verses from Quran and UAE National Anthem. The principal addressed the students and enlightened the students about the life of Gandhiji and his views . The choir group of middle section sang the patriotic song. Students from middle section sang a poem imbibing the principles of Gandhiji. The skit displaying Gandhiji’s struggle for freedom was enacted by Senior Section.
Finally an appreciation certificate was awarded to Mrs. Ligy Ajith Abraham, Coordinator for her dedication and continuous support offered to Science India Forum and its activities for the year 2016. The assembly ended with the Indian’s National Anthem.

Poem Recitation Competition

Poetry is a spontaneous overflow of emotions, it has distinctive style and rhythm. The students of IPHS showed their talent in the final round of Poem Recitation and recited poems in a distinctive manner. They were given an opportunity through ‘Recitation Competition‘ which was held for classes III to XII on 16th September, 2017. The finalists were selected in preliminary rounds which were conducted for classes I to X. The Language teachers judged them for final round on the basis of content, presentation, pronunciation and clarity. The students selected poems composed by great poets and recited them in effective manner. Classes XI and XII also participated and impressed the judges with the selection and presentation of their poems. The results were announced and the winners were awarded with certificates.

Light Music Competition & Mono Act Competition

Light Music Competition was conducted for classes III to XII on 16th September, 2017. The prodigies of melody presented songs in Hindi and Malayalam. They sung devotional, patriotic and regional songs. The mellifluous songs sung by the students mesmerised everyone. The winners were given the certificates.
Mono Act Competition was conducted for classes III to XII on 16th September, 2017. It is a very interesting art form which involves acting as well as intelligence. Many students participated enthusiastically. The students performed different characters. Each character was expressed effectively. Expressions and dialogues added colour to the performance. Their acting thrilled everyone. The participants were judged on the basis of expression, voice modulation and confidence. The winners were given certificates.

Hindi Diwas Celebration @ IPHS

Hindi Diwas Week was celebrated at IPHS with various activities in the month of September.
It was organized by Hindi Department for classes II to Class X students. Poster Making, Extempore, My experience during vacation-Paragraph Writing, Indian National Anthem Group activity and Debate on Swachta Abhiyan were conducted. The competitions and activities helped to inculcate a love towards the national language.

“Kannimanga”-One Day Arts & Cultural Camp @ IPHS

Ras Al Khaimah Arts Lover’s Association organized a one day Arts and Cultural Camp ‘Kannimanga’ for Keralite students of classes IV to XII on 30th June 2017 at Indian Public High School, Ras Al Khaimah.

Around 80 students from different schools participated in the camp. It was inaugurated by the famous Musician Mrs. Sindhu Balakrishnan. Journalist Mr. Anoop Kicheri, Artist, Mr. Sadhasivan Ambalamedu, Cine Artist Mr. Subash Das, Poet Mr. Rajesh Chittira, Script Writer Mr. Joslet lead the classes. The aim of the camp was to nourish the inborn talents of students and guide them in various skills like Poem Recitation, Elocution, Drawing, Painting, Music, Acting, Makeup, Literature, Story Telling, Story Writing. It was a fun-filled, memorable and an insightful experience for the students.

3rd International Day of Yoga Celebration @ IPHS

To celebrate the Third International Day of Yoga, the Indian Public High School, organized a yoga presentation for the IPHS community on 21st June 2017. The yogis included parents, staff and students. The session began with the singing of the ‘YOGA GEET’ by the students, which created a soothing atmosphere. The Yoga instructors of the day were Mr. Atam Prakash and Mrs. Mamta Atam, Senior International Faculties from The Art of Living, RAK. The Yoga instructor, Mr. Atam Prakash began the session, reading the message of the day by the honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri. Narendra Modi. The whole course was as per the Common Yoga Protocol 2017.The duration of the presentation was 30 minutes in which the breathing exercises and the main asanas were explained and trained. These asanas were taught to bring about holistic approach to health and well being especially among the students.

Distribution of Gifts @Al Nuami Construction Company

The Students of IPHS on 19th June 2017 distributed food hampers among the labourers at ‘Al Nuami Construction Company’, Ras Al Khaimah @ American University Campus during the Holy Month of Ramadan and also as a part of Year of Giving.

Thank you very much for all the parents who have supported their children for the contribution of the gifts to make this event a successful one. Thanks to all the class teachers who have encouraged the children to enhance the value of giving to the needy. Without their support this project would not have been a remarkable one.

Drawing and Colouring Competition

Creative art activities can help children in all areas of development. Drawing and Colouring Competition was conducted for classes I to VIII on 18th June, 2017. The students displayed their artistic skills. Class I was given the pictures and they coloured them. Classes II to VIII topic were given. They used colours to express their creativity. The neatness and precision of their work was appreciated by everyone. The best three drawings from each class were selected and handed over to the art teacher Mrs. Vrinda for the final judgement. The art teacher selected the best entries and winners were declared on the 5 point grading system. They were awarded with certificates during assembly. This competition gave an opportunity to the students to show their talent.

Art Competition @ IPHS

Attractive Motivation Events brings a platform to explore students’ hidden talents on arts and appreciated them with exciting prizes. Painting and Pencil Drawing Competition were conducted on various dates in the month of June 2017 for classes I to X. The competition was mandatory. Theme was selected by the organization and evaluation was done by their allotted team of judges. First round results were declared. Many Students were selected as the finalists from IPHS. These Finalists will be appreciated with Trophy & certificate. Final Round results will be announced in the month of September.

‘Hag Al Laila’- A Sweet Celebration @ IPHS

Before the holy month of Ramadan begins, UAE residents celebrate the day of Hag Al Laila as a precursor to the holy month. Hag Al Laila falls on 15th day of the month of Sha’aban. Hag Al Laila is one of the many traditions inherited by the Emiratis from their ancestors. As a part of it, students of IPHS distributed sweets to all the students. Principal Mrs. Anubha Nijhawan distributed sweets to the guests and the staff. It was a day filled with happiness of giving all around.

COLLAGE MAKING COMPETITION

Collage Making Competition was held on 23rd May and 18th June 2017 for classes III to X. It was an art work made by sticking pieces of paper that includes magazines, news paper etc. Students were given the sketch where they had to fill in using the old magazine paper bits. The collage works were solely judged on their creativity and originality. The theme for each class was chosen by the Art Teacher, Mrs. Vrinda. Classes X was given the topic as group activity. The winners were announced in the assembly and were awarded with certificate by the section Supervisor.

SUAAL RAMADAN QUIZ

On Saturday, 10th June, 2017, Teens India UAE organized Quiz competition for all the Indian School students in the Seven Emirates of U. A. E and Al Ain.

In Ras Al Khaimah, IPHS was delighted to get the opportunity to have the venue and to conducted the competition. Thirty students registered for the exam. The topic was “The Qur’an & Modern Science”. The Prizes announced for the winners were Gold Coins and other attractive offers. Incharge teacher, Mrs. Samia helped the students to prepare well for the competition.

BOOK FEST @ IPHS

Indian Public High School organized a one week ‘Book Fest’ from Sunday, 21st May to Thursday 25th May, 2017 in association with Al Warjd General Trading LLC. In the present world, importance of reading has become very important and owing a book is a dream come true for all the book lovers. On display were a wide range of books from Indian & International Publishers (English and Arabic). The books were age specific, curriculum related, exciting & enriching. The children enjoyed the fair and picked books varying from science to spooky stories; from puzzles to poems; and from fiction to facts. The teachers equally helped the children in selecting the books. The Book Fair was open to parents from afternoon till evening. They utilized this fair in purchasing the right book for their Children.

MOCK FIRE DRILL @ IPHS

A Mock Evacuation Drill under the guidance of Mr. Venugopal, incharge of Fire and Safety was conducted on 25 May, 2017 in the school premises to prepare everyone for the correct code of conduct in case of an unforeseen disaster. Prior to the drill all the staff members and students had the idea of fire evacuation plan, its procedure, Emergency Assembly Points and their important positions. When the fire alarm was given, the students came out to their allotted positions in the given order and pattern within a minute.All equipments required for drill i.e, first aid box, fire extinguisher, fire safety blankets etc. had been arranged in the charted out positions. Thereafter a mock fire was lit and fire wardens came with fire extinguisher and put out the fire. The Mock Drill was successful as everyone performed on cue and all the students reached the safe area, the school ground, on time. It ended with complete head count.

Recital of Holy Quran Competition @ IPHS

To learn Al-Quran with Tajweed and Tarteel, the etiquettes of reading, memorizing and listening Al-Quran and to know the importance of Al Quran in Muslim’s life and reward of reciting it. Al Quran is The Last Holy Book of Allah and it is the religious duty of a Muslim to recite, learn and listen to it. Students of IPHS participated in the competition held on 20th May 2017 with zeal and zest. They memorized a few verses of the Al Quran. They presented themselves as a dutiful Muslim. It enhanced their quality of reciting and their interest in Al Quran. Students made use of the opportunity to show it,they also learned to improve themselves in the recital of the holy verses.

‘FOOD FEST’ organized by Student Council

The ’FOOD FEST’ organized by the student council was conducted on May 10, 2017.It was an occasion to rejoice with the variety of tastes. The participation of the students with the wholehearted support of the parents was the key to success. The fest offered a large variety of cuisines covering different cultures.The fest was an occasion to prove the unity of the various cultures inside the school campus and the effective organization by the students.

IPHS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION 2017

In the broad wing of time, one stiffer feather is added to the exuberant life of IPHS, R.A.K. IPHS celebrated its founders day and 31st birthday on 8th May, 2017 amidst great zest, vibrancy and elation.

The special assembly held on this joyful day in the school premises began with flag hoisting by the Principal, Mrs. Anubha Nijhawan along with the Vice Principal, Dr. Annamma Mathew. After the usual procedure in the assembly, Master. Sidharth Purohit, the Head Boy of the school and the Principal addressed the school with an emotional touch. The Principal, Mrs. Anubha Nijhawan, who took the school to its pinnacle of success for 31 years, enlivened the school by naming the major pillars, founder Mr. John Valiyaveetil, Chairman Mr. Reji Skaria, Mrs. Aziza, the School Secretary, Mrs. Sujatha, the former Vice Principal who took the glory of the school to its highest peak in the past, and urged the students to hone and sharpen their talents and potentials to not only carve a niche for themselves or bring laurels to school but also aim to bring glory to the society as well. It was also the proud moment of the school to honour the little genius of the school, Miss. Aparna Rejith of class IV A, who won gold medal in National Mathematics Olympiad for the consecutive three years for the same, with Gold Medal and Certificate handed over by the Principal. Besides this, the school held in high esteem and presented the Certificate for the uprightness shown by the students of grade XI, Master. Harjit Singh and Master. Praneet Deepak Amin, who practiced the values of honesty in real life by handing over the cash purse found near the school premises to the school office. This day also witnessed the teachers, Mrs. Shammy Santhosh, Mrs. Kavitha Pradesh, Mrs.Rubina Yasmin, Mrs. Dhanya R, Mrs. Deepika Mahesh Purohit, Mrs. Jiny John, Mrs. Sumana R and Mrs. Amy George who got 100% attendance in the year 2016-2017, were felicitated with gold coin and certificate. Thereafter, the Happiness Ambassador representative from teachers, Mrs. Preeti Anoop with students ambassadors were welcomed on to the stage, and was pinned the badges of the ‘Happiness Ambassador’ by the Principal and the respective Class Teachers. Then, there were shouts of joy and birthday wishes to IPHS when the birthday cake was cut by the Principal in the presence of the teaching and non-teaching staff of the school. After that, the whole school was captivated by the scintillating, radiant and vibrant artistic performance exhibited by the students of various classes.

Elocution Competition(Classes III – XII)

An Elocution Competition,the art of Public Speaking was conducted on 29th April, 2017 for classes III-XII. The participants were divided into four categories . There were three Judges for three different languages English, Malayalam and Hindi and their decision was final. The winners were awarded certificates.

Investiture Ceremony

The investiture ceremony was a day to be cherished for the leaders. The solemn oath taking ceremony, honouring with badges and the exchange of sashes were true moments of glory for achievers. Together with the Head Boy, Master Siddharth Mahesh Purohit and the Head Girl Miss.Krishna Anilkumar, the other Office Bearers, House Captains and all the class prefects were honoured on 27th April 2017. The Principal Mrs. Anubha Nijhawan honoured the students with badges.The school Head Girl Miss.Krishna Anilkumar delivered a speech on the duties and responsibilities of a leader.

INTER – SCHOOL CREATIVE WRITING COMPETITIONS

To develop imaginative, aesthetic and writing skills in children, the department of English, IPHS conducted various Creative Writing Competitions for the grades V to XII in the school campus on 18th April 2017.

Students of Grades V & VI competed each other Making Cards on the topic ‘Wish a Gorgeous Day to IPHS’. This competition has helped to nurture the drawing and writing skills of the younger ones.

In the next category, Students of Grades VII & VIII got the opportunity to take part in Story Writing contest on the topic ‘The Value of Hunger’. This has enhanced the imaginative as well as narrative writing skills of the students.

In the category of Grades IX & X, students took part in the Poem Writing Competition on the topic ‘Mother, an Epitome of Love and Affection’. The students who took interest in poem writing could develop the aesthetic sense, and put down the words felt in the real life.

A Skit Writing competition was also conducted for the grades XI & XII on the topic ‘Abode of Your Wisdom’. Obviously, the skit writing has enriched their conversational and writing skills that are useful in their daily life.

First Day Fun Day

IPHS welcomed its students on 2nd April for the new academic session 2017-18. The school was decorated with balloons, flowers and coloured papers to welcome the students. The teachers welcomed the students and directed them to their new class rooms. The tiny tots of KG 2 were given chocolates as they entered the school gate. Some students were dressed in traditional attires to welcome everyone. Melodious music was being played and the entire school was overflowed with new energy. The parents of new students were given bands as token of love as they were the new members of IPHS family. 5th April was a great day for the school as Tiny Tots of KG 1 were joining the school for the first time. The enthusiastic and caring parents accompanied their children. As it is the Year of Giving they were given chocolates and gifts .The parents were given bands as a token of welcome in the IPHS. The whole school wholeheartedly welcomed the new batch.

IPHS NASA EDUCATIONAL TRIP, 2017

On 29th March 2017, a group of 12 students guided by Dr. Annamma Mathew, Vice Principal arrived at JFK airport, New York as part of the educational trip to NASA organized by SATA, Sharjah. During this ten days trip, the students spent three days in NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida extending their knowledge on space in a fun and creative way. On the first day, students built a truss, and then simulated a spacewalk. To add their knowledge, students learned about astronauts, their life in space shuttle, and the space mission. The next day, they built and launched model rockets made of paper tubes and PVC pipes. Then, the students used simulators to understand space travel and space shuttle. The final day, they were engaged in building parachutes for the task known as ‘egg landing’. They also had face to face talk with the astronaut, Bob Springer, who motivated the students with his wonderful experience with the space missions. In addition to this, Students enjoyed shopping from the largest space shop in the world, and they were thrilled to visit some of the amazing locations in the world: Disney Land, Liberty Island, White House, Trump Tower, United Nations Building, Abraham Lincoln’s Memorial, Ground Zero and so on. In short, this trip helped the students to identify challenges and proposing solutions to actual space related situations, and they gained experience in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. The students were finally back home on 7th April 2017.
