KG Activities 2017-18

Action Song Competition

The Action Song competition was held on February 19th and 20th for the students of KG1. Many enthusiastic students participated from KG 1 A to KG 1 F. The participants were judged on various categories Rhythm and Tempo, Facial Expression and Gestures, Diction and Clarity, Presentation and Confidence.
As the competition was only in English the first three places of the winning position were chosen from each section of KG1 (A to F). The winners of the Action Song competition were felicitated with certificates during a special assembly held on February 21, 2018.

 

KG Graduation Ceremony

Senior Kindergarten students achieved another milestone in their lives-completion of Kindergarten and moving on to Primary. To mark this important phase in their life, Graduation Ceremony was held on the 17th of February, 2018 in the premises of IPHS.
The event was graced by the senior leadership team, namely the Chairman, Principal, Vice Principal, Supervisors, co-ordinators and of course the proud parents and other near and dear ones of the graduands.
Notable highlights of the event included the welcome speech, vote of thanks delivered by the young graduates of KG 2, recitation of stanzas of the graduation poem by all the sections of KG 2 and a befitting finale - with a thanks giving song.
The program itinerary for the event also included address by the division head of the Kindergarten and two parental addresses, where two parents belonging to the Parent Council Committee rendered a short speech sharing words of appreciation about Kindergarten at IPHS.

PICNIC TO SAQR PARK

The vibrant tiny tots from the Kindergarten division of IPHS were taken on a picnic to the Saqr Park in Ras Al Khaimah. On three different days, from January 30, 2018 to February 1, 2018 students from KG1 and KG2 enjoyed a fun day at the picnic spot.
Another wonderful aspect of the trip was the distribution of sweaters to the helpers at the park. The KG Students of IPHS made their day by this benevolent gesture and overwhelmed the helpers. They happily posed for the shutterbugs as they filled their hearts thus also instilling the importance of the Year of Sheikh Zayed in them. The trip flagged off at 8.15 a.m and the students were brought back to school at 11.00 a.m with happy memories associated with the picnic. It was a memorable and fun filled day for the Kindergarteners at IPHS.

KG Day Celebrations 2017-18

The KG section of IPHS celebrated KG annual Day on January 26th 2018. The theme of the event was ‘Unity in Diversity’ showcased dance performances representing various countries.
The event was graced by eminent dignitaries, Mrs. Vrushali Nadkerni (Advanced Level Trainer - Arabian Child, Dubai) was the chief guest and Dr. Malay Jhancy (Associate Professor, Pediatrics) - RAK College of Medical Sciences was the guest speaker of the day.
Prize distribution for the winners of Action Song, Story Narration competitions and Sports were awarded with certificates and medals.
The KG Annual Day celebrations also highlighted the observation of 2018 Year of Zayed in UAE. ‘Unity in Diversity’ thus was aptly projected through the cultural programs and it stands testimony to the enthusiastic cooperation and unswerving support of the management, parents and the students of IPHS.

Fun with Mom – KG Section

A pleasant evening, loads of activities, Healthy and yummy stuff to eat, music and dance - all in one package - That is ‘Fun with Mom’ event. An evening planned and dedicated for the kids and their fun - loving moms in a totally lively atmosphere was the ultimate aim of this event. Fun with Mom was held on the 5th and 6th of December 2017 for KG 1 and KG 2 respectively.
List of activities lined up for the event included were Nail Art, Body Art, Floral Art and Card Making. There was a Food Corner too, where the moms and Children were welcomed to make fresh sandwiches using freshly grated and chopped vegetables and yummy spreads like mayonnaise, cheese, tomato Ketchup to go with it. There was also a Refreshments area serving hot beverages and biscuits.

UAE National Day Celebration – KG Section

Kindergarten of IPHS celebrated 46th UAE National Day on November 28th 2017.A special assembly was held on that day where students from KG 1 and KG 2 participated in a dance program for a song that reverberated their love for the country. To add vigour to the occasion the students came in beautiful attires reflecting the colours of the UAE flag. The girls wore beautiful glittery accessories and the boys appeared in the traditional UAE outfit. The children wore caps painted in the UAE flag colors and went around the school ground waving the UAE flags. Thus the celebration of the 46th UAE National Day at IPHS by the Kindergarteners took several forms and the children thoroughly enjoyed it a lot.

ANNUAL SPORTS – KG SECTION

Children will benefit from the opportunities sports offer. Sports help kids enjoy the social aspect and also help to enhance qualities like control of emotions and commitment.Heats for Task Race and Sprint for KG-1 were conducted on 30th October and 1st November respectively, under the supervision of sports instructor and teacher. In the same manner, Heats for Hurdle Race and Sprint for students of KG-2 were organised on 31st October and 2nd November respectively. On the 5th and 6th November, Semi-Finalists and Finalist of the races took part in Finals, thus completing the event successfully. Our young athletes will be rewarded with Certificates and Trophies on KG-Day Ceremony.

Costume Day - KG Section

A vision to become what they want to be in future was the central theme of the ‘Costume Day’. It was observed on various days in the month of October and November. Costume Day witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students belonging to Lower and Upper Kindergarten. On that day the participants donned the costume of a plethora of professions namely, Doctor, Nurse, Astronaut, Football player,Teacher, Ship Captain, Pilot, Airhostess, Army Soldiers etc. The Costume Day drew to a close with a thank you note for the management, students and parents for their support and contribution to make this day a huge success.

Folk Dance Competition

Folk Dance Competition conducted on 28th October showcased the inherent talents and enthusiasm of tiny tots of kindergarten.The objective of the competition is to provide students an exposure to multi-regional dance forms. Rajasthani Folk Dance-celebrating colours of holi, a Malayalam dance about a deer were some of the performance that enchanted the audiences. These young winners of competition will be felicitated with certificates and trophies during school assembly.

Field Trip – To Animal Farm (KG-1)

Field trip to an animal farm is a useful and effective opportunity to enable children learn about various domestic and farm animals.On 23rd October 2017, students of KG-1 visited an animal farm in Nakheel-RAK. The purpose of this visit is to enable children learn about various domestic and farm animals. Students were excited to see hens, turkeys, white peacock and some caged birds like love birds, doves and pigeons.
They discussed with teachers how animals and birds eat and move. This trip helped students to develop a keen sense of the differences and similarities between animal groups they learn.

Story Narration Competition- KG-2

The aim of conducting Story Narration Competition is to give an opportunity to students to exhibit their narrative skills. Competition in story narration gives students an opportunity to showcase their inherent narrative skills.
Students of KG-2 activity took part in story narration competitions held in Hindi, English and Malayalam languages on 17th and 18th October 2017. It was fascinating to watch children narrate stories with actions, voice modulations and using props.The competitions were conducted in 2 rounds and the winners of final rounds of competition will be awarded with certificates and prizes on KG- Day.

Action Song Competition KG2

To provide a platform to the students to exhibit their talent of singing with actions is the purpose of the competition. They provide Kindergarteners an opportunity to develop social, communication and language skills.
Students of KG 2 participated in the Action Song competitions that was held in three languages namely – Hindi, English, and Malayalam on 13th and 14th of September 2017. Based on the results of the preliminary rounds, the final round of Action Song competition was held for the shortlisted students on 15th and 16th of October. Three students were judged as winners under each category of the Action Song competition who will be felicitated with certificates and prizes on KG – Day.

Educational Trip to LULU HyperMarket-RAK MALL

Teaching about vegetables, fruits and healthy eating is most effective when students are introduced with real vegetables in a hypermarket. Students of KG-1 were excited to go on an educational trip to Lulu Hyper Market- RAK MALL on 12th September 2017. To emphasize the importance of a varied diet and motivate students to increase their consumption of colourful fruits and vegetables is the objective of this trip. They identified most of the vegetables like – potatoes, tomatoes, onion, cabbage, brinjal and fresh beans etc. Teachers introduced some more vegetables like bell peppers, avocado, broccoli and a few green vegetables, thus helping them to build vocabulary.

FATHER’S DAY CELEBRATION

To create an opportunity for the students to show their affection by means of a small gift for their Father and to wish their dear Dad ‘Happy Father Day’. Fathers deserve a big Thanks for the never – ending support they shower us with, in every step of our lives.

On Father’s Day, June 18th, 2017, students of KG 1 and KG 2 made beautiful greeting cards to take home and give their fathers and wish Happy Father’s Day. KG 1 students created two palm impressions on heart-shaped cut-outs of chart with messages like ‘Thank you for everything’, ‘I love you Daddy’ and ‘When you hold my hand, you hold my heart.’ Kg 2 students did a small gift box with a medal inside made from chart paper with ‘#1 dad’ message written over one side. The box was wrapped in a beautiful satin ribbon.

ENVIRONMENT WEEK

To be sensitized towards environment and its current issues is something that needs to be done right from the young age. With this objective in mind, the KG section dedicated an entire week, from 11th to 15th June 2017 to it.

On 5th June, students of KG1 and KG2 were given a sapling to carry home. Paper bags were beautified by pictures and were coloured by students. These bags carried slogans such as ‘Save Earth’ ‘No Plastic’. These were later, handed over to a hypermarket to be used for customers.

Visit to Al Amanath Bakery

On 22nd of May, the students of KG 2 were taken to Al Amanath Bakery located at Al Nakheel, Ras Al Khaimah. On reaching the spot, students were given caps to be worn for hygienic reasons. They were then taken inside the bakery kitchen and shown around the various departments involved in the processing of all the yummy items that are actually sold in the bakery. The students were excited to learn about them and took home yummy cupcakes and tetra pack juices that were given as compliments.During the trip they also sang Baker’s Man and Hot Cross Bun Rhyme which were fitting for the place they visited – a Bakery!

Festival of Colours-KG-1

Recognizing the colors and identifying the colour names is an important part of a child’s development.‘Festival of Colours’ was planned aptly for the students of KG-1 enabling them to develop colour recognition skills, at the onset of the year from 23rd April to 18th May 2017. Children came dressed as per the colour of the week to school to be welcomed by beautifully decked up classrooms.

Various activities like thumb printing, cotton bud printing and bubble – wrap printing were done by students. Take home art like turtle, apple, pine apple and a flower were the special features enjoyed by children.

Mother’s Day Celebration

An Occasion as special as Mother’s Day should not simply go by wishing ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ orally. It was a perfect occasion to express feelings through intense creativity. Cards were made by the students and they were also taught a song to express their love for their mother. They carried home the card to present to their lovely mothers on Mother’s Day.

Art and Craft Week

The Art and Craft week is primarily to teach students how to create wonderful things using various easily available materials and to hone their creative skills.The Art and Craft week was organized in the month of May from 14th to 22nd of May. The activities carried out during the Art and Craft week were Pineapple Printing, Leaf Printing, Dandelion Flower Printing, Collage Making on IPHS Birthday and Honey Bee Craft.

Sharing Day (Toy Day)

Sharing is a vital life skill. Its something children need to learn to make friends and play cooperatively. At the onset of the new academic year, Sharing Day (Toy Day) was aptly organised for KG-1 students.

Students were asked to bring their favourite toy to school on 19-4-2017.Under the guidance of the teachers, children exchanged toys and played with them. Some students told stories to their peers using their toys. Children were encouraged and praised for good sharing. Teachers utilized this opportunity to explain about the very important Skill-Sharing.

‘Pleased to meet you’ Activity – KG2

The objective of ‘Pleased to Meet You’ activity was to encourage the students of KG2 to introduce themselves to their peers. On April 18th 2017, all the students of KG-2 from sections A to E ,were taken to the playground and made to form a big circle. Each student was asked to introduce himself/herself to others. Starting with a small greeting each student began saying the name followed by class and section and ended with “Pleased to meet you”. This ‘introduction’ session, with intermittent rhymes and basic exercises, in the morning hours, was indeed a positive start for the year 2017-18.

Orientation Programme

The Orientation helps to create the foundation for positive relationships between parents and teachers and builds mutual trust and confidence.

Kindergarten Orientation took place prior to the re-opening of school, i.e, on 23rd May 2017. A briefing of the agenda was done by one of the teachers of Kindergarten. Later, Principal Mrs. Anubha Nijhawan, in her speech, welcomed the parents to the Orientation Programme and briefed up a few important points pertaining to Kindergarten. Kindergarten teachers, assistants and other staff members were introduced to parents. The Supervisor continued with more bullet points about curriculum, school timings, etc. Important school policies were explained in short to parents by Student Counselor. The Orientation Programme ended with vote of thanks proposed by a teacher.
